Welcome Reception

On Monday evening, all participants are kindly invited to attend the Opening and Award Ceremony. During the subsequent Welcome Reception we would like to give all participants the opportunity to meet friends, old and new, while enjoying Belgian cheese and beers served in the catering area of the conference centre.

On Tuesday evening, you can experience a ‘Breydel Festival’, organized in the unique medieval atmosphere of the garden of St Peter’s Abbey. Enjoy typical Belgian food and beers while listening to fantasy music with bag pipes and drums.
The Breydel festival is a cooperation with Breydel, a meat producing company with 40 years of craftsmanship, working with local and sustainably produced meats. Breydel strongly believes in social engagement, supporting various charities and donates to Trias, a Belgian NGO aiding development in the Southern Hemisphere. In support of Trias, they organize ‘Breydel festivals’, where up to 1,100 people can enjoy a delicious ratatouille with Breydel ham and bacon.

Guided visit of Ghent

On Wednesday evening we organize the possibility to visit Ghent in a guided tour. They will bring you to the most important sights of the historical city and take you on the water for a boat trip while enjoying something typically to drink. It is an informative tour which takes you through the city of Ghent to let you discover the period of the Middle Ages. See the silent witnesses of the prestigious and glorious past: the beautiful fronts of houses of the Graslei (the medieval port), the big old meat-market, the rugged and steep walls of the Castle of Counts as well as the three medieval towers of Ghent: The Belfry of Ghent and the towers of the Saint Bavo Cathedral and the Saint Nicholas' Church.

Conference Gala Dinner

On Thursday evening we will enjoy the conference dinner as a true highlight in the social programme of EAAP 2019. We will enjoy the good taste of Belgian food and delights. It provides an opportunity for all participants to relax and enjoy meeting each other outside the regular programme. The conference dinner will be hosted at the wonderful ‘Handelsbeurs’. The ‘Handelsbeurs’ is a multifunctional concert hall in the city of Ghent, located in the monumental Handelsbeurs building on the Kouter. It's a 5-minute walk from the city centre and 10 min walk from the Conference centre.
